pre-thanksgiving food swap

thank you all for your incredible contributions and energy to the second dc food swap! we’d also like to thank Above the Bikeshop for their continued support, Omari Mayers-Walker for snapping such beautiful photos of the swapping magic and Brandon Wetherbee for showcasing the second DC Food Swap on Huffington Post

we wish we could spend every sunday visiting with old friends, meeting news ones and eating everything from chocolate-covered bacon to sage biscuits to roasted green tomatoes, but we’ll have to wait until 2013.

until then, we hope you’ll enjoy our fabulous new photos and continue sharing photos and recipes of your own culinary creations and adventures through our FacebookInstagram and Twitter pages (#dcfoodswap).

happy holidays!

the bountiful november food swap

join us for our pre-thanksgiving food swap on sunday, november 11, where dc’s food community will share autumn-inspired treats. reserve your space now!

we received several recommendations from our swappers after the last event, and we’ve heard you loud and clear. here are a few things we’ve changed since our last food swap:

  • we are now offering 45 tickets to increase the amount of treats and treasures for you to choose from!
  • to cover operating and space rental costs, we will be collecting $5 per person in cash at the door.
  • please bring canned and dried foods (homemade or purchased) to donate to a local food bank so everyone can have a happy, healthy holiday.

spread the word, and see you there!

first dc food swap

thank you to everyone who attended our first food swap in dc, and to “above the bike shop” in adams morgan who graciously hosted our food swap!

our swappers brought the most creative, fresh, salty, flaky, and sweet delectables we’ve ever tasted. some of the (many) highlights included garlic braids, empanadas, fresh bunches of herbs, apricot yogurt, sour cherry jam, local honey, Russian pickled cabbage, vegan brownies and pancake mix, home-cured bacon, zucchini muffins, and even a “marshmallow herb garden”!

take a peek of our food swap photos here. more to come on our Facebook page.
